Position Summary:

A manufacturing engineer determines, establishes and maintains processes, equipment tools and procedures for the start-up and continuous flow of production, to assure a product of acceptable quality and performance within established cost objectives and environmental regulations. Provides continuing engineering for all products. 

  1. Responds to manufacturing problems by investigating and resolving such problems to assure a continuing flow of production.

  2. Assists in the introduction of new products through tooling and production equipment, bill of materials, structuring manufacturing instructions and other documentation.

  3. Provides continuing product engineering through the initiation of improvements in systems and procedures, and initiation of new design in support of an existing product and resolving of problems in performance, quality by design changes or complete redesign when necessary.

  4. Assists with developing and implementing cost reduction programs that are multifaceted in nature by product redesign or selection over lower cost components, by processing and by adding new processes and equipment.

  5. Maintains expertise in labor standards and methods improvements through seminars, journals and membership in professional societies.

  6. Troubleshoots and resolves technical problems with electronic, electromechanical equipment, product and systems.

  7. Provides leadership to coordinate and implement product, process and manufacturing location changes to support overall business goals and objectives.

  8. Manage projects efficiently with accountability for results. Ensure all partners for successful implementation are managed and coordinated to completion of project.

  9. Actively pursues continuous learning; develops skills and knowledge in job-related technical or professional expertise, including increasing breadth and depth of expertise and keeping up-to-date with advances

  10. Combines technical and professional expertise with knowledge of the industry and market needs to impact business objectives; actively develops industry and market knowledge relevant to role 

  11. Is honest and fair in dealings with others; words and actions are consistent with Rockwell Automation values and standards of ethical conduct

  12. Reaches out across organizational lines to establish and maintain effective work relationships to achieve individual and team goals

  13. Addresses conflict and other barriers to collaboration directly and constructively, adapting to cultural norms and expectations when appropriate

  14. Shares viewpoints openly and directly with others, providing relevant and timely information to those who need it

  15. Shares information clearly one-on-one and with small groups, making good decisions as to who, when and how to communicate

  17. Clearly quantifies and articulates customer value derived from Rockwell Automation solutions (e.g., technology, differentiation, etc.)

  18. Establishes well-defined (i.e., SMART), achievable but aggressive business goals and development plans that are consistent with the Rockwell Automation business strategy

  19. Excels at execution; monitors progress and, as needed, redirects efforts, resources and rewards to ensure goals are achieved

  20. Discovers or verifies new business opportunities by experimenting with new ideas, processes, and technologies (e.g., a pilot)

  21. Takes calculated risks that lead to innovations that greatly improve a Rockwell Automation process, product or service, or a solution Rockwell Automation provides a customer 

  22. Acts decisively in high stakes situations (relative to position) and holds to correct courses of action - even when difficult - in order to achieve agreed-upon goals and behave consistently with Rockwell Automation values

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree required: BS in Industrial, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred. 

  • 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment required.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Proven success as an individual contributor to identify problems and manage solutions, in the form of continuous improvement projects.

  • Relevant experience in the following preferred:

  • Light assembly processes, component wiring, basic metal working\\fabrication, material flow, material handling, engineered to order or job shop environment.

  • Master's Degree.

  • PMP or Project Management certification.

  • Lean/Six Sigma belt or familiarity and proven history of continuous improvement projects.
